Alekeni

Alekeni is an illustrated book object built on a mirrored structure: two stories printed from opposite ends of the same volume, read by flipping the book. The form is not decorative — it is the premise. The stories are cyclical: neither ends without the other beginning.The first follows Alekeni, a girl from the Selknam people, indigenous to the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, crossing the Gulf of Penas alone in a branch canoe — a passage through one of the most punishing stretches of sea at the far southern tip of the continent. The second follows Sandra, a woman from San Ramón, who after healing from a sorrow as distant as a dream begins to transform the neighborhood around her, filling it with color and life. Two women in transit. Two ways of crossing.Conceived as an editorial object with its own visual identity, Alekeni lives in the space between illustration, literature, and design. An authorial project where the structure of the book is inseparable from what it says.

Alekeni es un libro objeto ilustrado construido sobre una estructura en espejo: dos historias impresas desde los extremos opuestos del mismo volumen, que se leen girando el libro. La forma no es decorativa — es la premisa. Las historias son cíclicas: ninguna termina sin que la otra comience. La primera sigue a Alekeni, una niña del pueblo selknam, originario de la isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, que atraviesa sola el Golfo de Penas en una canoa de ramas — un cruce por uno de los mares más implacables del extremo austral. La segunda sigue a Sandra, una mujer de San Ramón, que después de sanar de una pena vieja como un sueño empieza a transformar el barrio donde vive, llenándolo de color y vida. Dos mujeres en tránsito. Dos formas de cruzar. El libro fue concebido como objeto editorial con identidad visual propia, pensado para habitar entre la ilustración, la literatura y el diseño. Un proyecto de autor donde la estructura del libro es inseparable de lo que cuenta.
